Introducing The Wormworld Saga iPad App by renowned digital artist Daniel Lieske and mobile publisher Robot Media. Discover the breathtaking fantasy world that enchanted a million readers already!

The Wormworld Saga is an episodic graphic novel designed for tablets devices, from the mind of acclaimed illustrator Daniel Lieske. Unlike traditional graphic novels, each chapter is digitally painted on a seemingly infinite canvas, providing an immersive reading experience that draws the reader right into a fully realized fantasy world.

The Wormworld Saga follows the life and adventures of Jonas Berg, who at a young age enters a parallel world through a forgotten painting in a dusty attic.

Produced by digital publisher Robot Media, the Wormworld Saga app finally allows readers to experience Lieske’s saga the way it was meant to be read: the app provides better image quality and scrolling performance than the web version, and uses a seamless touch interface for reading.

Keeping with the spirit of the web edition, the app itself and the main narrative are available to everyone for free. For those who want to support the continued development of the saga, a paid Collector’s Edition is also available.

The Collector’s Edition includes behind-the-scenes commentary by the author and an exclusive digital artbook that provides additional insight about the creative process. The Collector’s Edition also allows to view the painted artwork without dialogue, and share any scene through Facebook, Twitter and email.

Our goal is to provide Daniel an outlet where his far-reaching vision can be shared with fans of the Wormworld in the clearest way possible. About Daniel Lieske

The Wormworld Saga App is the latest milestone in the success story of German digital artist and graphic novel author Daniel Lieske. After a notable fundraising campaign, which raised over $23.000 for the development of the app, and a book publishing deal with German publisher Tokyopop, Lieske quit his job in computer games to concentrate on the development of the Wormworld Saga Digital Graphic Novel instead.

With the launch of the app, Lieske sets his foot into independent digital publishing and hopes to raise a new benchmark for digital graphic novels and serve as inspiration for other independent creators.

Ghostboy and the Nameless Grave is the first interactive children’s book for Amazon Kindle, an original title produced by digital picture book publisher Robot Media.

Kindle parents can now share the joy of reading eBooks with their children. Ghostboy and the Nameless Grave is an original eBook in which children become part of an interactive adventure, a brand new experience available exclusively for Amazon Kindle.

The story follows Tristan -the titular Ghostboy-, a quiet boy who is constantly being haunted by his cemetery neighbors. Ghostboy and the Nameless Grave narrates Tristan’s first encounter with a ghost, a lost little girl. Children enter their name, choose an avatar and help Tristan to solve the mystery of the little ghost girl.

The eBook is illustrated by English author Jason James and published by Barcelona-based Robot Media, who previously won the Publishing Innovation Award at Digital Book World 2011 in New York. Robot Media has worked closely with the author to create an experience that makes use of the full potential of the Amazon Kindle.

“We set out to create a story tailored to the strengths of the Kindle. Ghostboy’s Gothic settings are rendered beautifully on the Kindle’s monochrome screen, and the design evokes the feel of the silent films of old,” says Robot Media’s founder Hermes Pique.

Ghostboy and the Nameless Grave is aimed at children who are learning to read and write. It provides reading comprehension and writing puzzles, and offers children the choice to explore a town full of mysteries during the eve of Halloween. It’s been known for a while that iBooks supports JavaScript on its ePub files, albeit without any technical documentation whatsoever to date.

Yet when we started experimenting with JavaScript within iBooks, we couldn’t find any open-source working examples. So we created one.

JQuery Hello World is a bare-bones ePub that shows a Hello World alert using JQuery. Not only it shows that JavaScript is supported within iBooks, but also that complex libraries like JQuery might be used.

Both the ePub file and the source code are available in our github account. Make sure you update to the latest iBooks version before trying it.
