Lenny face (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) is a type of emoticon that is used to mean a mood of mischievousness and also means the sexual innuendo. It is also used in spam online discussions. It is used in platforms like Twitter and Facebook.
The origin of Lenny face
(͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) this symbol first appeared in the Finnish based message board called as the Ylilauta in the thread. It was about the spam filters. This anonymous content was displayed on November 18, 2012. It said “(͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) this thread is leaking from the heavens.”
In the same day, this emoticon was also posted on the US-based board of image called the 4chan. It also came in the Reddit and the subreddit r/4chan. In the 4chan it was exhibited many times that the users were banned for a short while because of using the post more than necessary. On that day there was a video posted in the youtube with the topic (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). This video is a zoom of the emoticon with music in the background of the weird screaming.
On that day the r/Israel subreddit and it was spammed with a lot of copies of the face. There were also several variations in it. That weekend November 17 and 18 the Israel airstrike on to the Gaza and Hamas rocketed on to Le face and Lenny face.
Although many of the Lenny face was gone after some time it lived long enough for it to become popular. It was shown in text as well the images and it was superimposed on the face of some other characters and photos to make it meme-worthy. It was edited with the images of Mona Lisa and Sponge Bob. It was done by the creative users of the internet. They made many changes in the emoticon also. They added some of the extra features like ears.
Who uses the Lenny face?
This is the same type of the emoticon as used in Japan and it is called as kaomoji. It mixes two words face and letters. It is quite different from the western emoticons as they are seen sideways as the smiley :). The kaomoji’s are read in a vertical aspect. They also utilize the parentheses to showcase the sides of the face. But the Kaomoji is different because of the eyes than their mouths like in the western emoticons.
The sideways glance and the grin that looks more like a smirk is used to denote the emotion sexually and mischievous. Without the copy and the paste process, the Lenny face is hard to do. People will say Lenny face or use it the actual picture of the Lenny face in conversations and the posts.
As seen many of the message board, comment sections and the forums repeatedly use the image of the Lenny face to spam the sites and the conversations. The extensions in the chrome allow the users to paste the Lenny face which is done by the computer codes and ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) faces generators.
